Designed by Marcel Breuer As a Bauhaus apprentice in 1925, Marcel Breuer was inspired by the functional design of a bicycle's tube frame and conceived the first tubular steel chair. The Wassily chair won the Museum of Modern Art Award in 1968, and in 1982 it garnered recognition as a "Piece of Art" in West Germany.
